UNIVERSAL POWER
CONVERTER With (SMT) SURFACE
MOUNT TECHNOLOGY $23.99
Virtually eliminates draw on the vehicles taillight circuit
Maximize trailer light brightness
Works with LED Taillights
May be used on 2 or 3 wire systems
No HD flasher required
3 amp per stop/signal lights, 5 amp Brake Light - 11
amps Total.
Now with Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
Surface Mount Technology is a method for constructing electrical
circuits where
the components are mounted directly onto the surface of printed circuit
boards. Electronic devices made this way are called Surface Mount Devices.
This method
has largely replaced the more traditional "through-hole" technology. Welcome
to the future of electrical towing products. |

UNIVERSAL (PWM) PULSE WIDTH
MODULATION POWER
CONVERTER $79.99
With (SMT) SURFACE MOUNT
TECHNOLOGY
Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) wiring systems, sometimes called "Multiplex"
are systems that vary the signal intensity over one wire to initiate more
than one lighting function - like running or stop lights.
There are two types of PWM systems, ST and STT.
ST systems have one wire that contains both stop and tail functions, and
a separate wire on each side that contains the turn signal functions.
STT systems have one wire that contains stop, tail, and turn functions.
Use with Pulse Width Modulation Systems (PWM) or Multiplex
*NEW* Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
Virtually eliminates draw on the vehicles taillight circuit
Maximize trailer light brightness
No HD flasher required |

What is a converter?
Two types of taillight designs are found on vehicles, an independent
bulb system and a common bulb system. If the brake light and turn
signal operate from the same bulb, the taillight design is common.
If the brake and turn work from separate bulbs, the design is
independent. The industry standard found on trailers is a common
bulb system. Vehicles will vary depending on the make and model. Any
vehicle that has an independent bulb system must have a converter to
“convert” the independent system to a common which is required on a
trailer. A converter enables vehicles with independent brake lights
and turn signals to provide proper lighting to the trailer.
Why do I need a power converter?
Electronics on many newer vehicles are not equipped to handle the
extra amp load that trailer lights require. A power converter
provides power directly from the battery bypassing the electronics.
This guarantees protection for sensitive electronics found on these
vehicles.
What is the reason for the battery lead wire on the power
converter?
This wire provides the power to the trailer lights. Green / RT,
yellow / LT, red / brake, and brown / taillights going to the power
converter are only used as a signal. Once a function is used on the
vehicle, the converter provides the actual power for the trailer
lights from the battery. This allows us to bypass all the vehicle
electronics to provide guaranteed safety. In other words, your
vehicle's computer is isolated from any effects resulting from a
short on the trailer or incorrect wiring. This is ideal on all
vehicles but necessary on some. Please check application
list.
Additional wiring information
is available as a service to help you understand more about
electrical wiring on trailers and your vehicles. Specific instructions come with
the components themselves but be sure to carefully review any information in
your Owner's Manual regarding trailer wiring.
